Our Approach

GREENMO project will address key environmental and mobility challenges by exploring the concept of “mobility hubs” as a step towards environmentally sustainable transport planning. It has been structured on an integrated and participatory approach that incorporates both top-down and bottom-up perspectives, in order to study the gap identified and understand better its impacts.

GREENMO’s approach is based on the following pillars:

Learning: Gathering fragmented knowledge by identifying the different types of mobility hubs towards low carbon economy, assessing their sustainability impact, summarizing their characteristics, providing insights into the governance approaches needed to have them running in a smooth way.

Studying: Gathering and analyzing input BOTH from the top-down perspective (interviews with policymakers and stakeholders) AND from the bottom-up point of view (citizens). The gap analysis to be performed will identify the possible arrears, pointing out the real needs as a “compass” for positive results.

Exchanging: interregional learning process is an integral part of the project’s approach aiming to exchange experiences among partners through meetings and thematic workshops, and comparison of outcomes and analyses’ outcomes

Capitalizing and transferring knowledge: Capacity building activities, establishing networks within the relevant eco-system, receiving feedback from externals.

MAIN OBJECTIVE

GREENMO project aims to promote the integration of Green and Inclusive Mobility hubs for greener MED living areas. More specifically, by the end of the project, the achievement will be to foster low carbon mobility in living areas with the focus on mitigating the impact of urban mobility on the environment (CO2 reduction), by supporting public Authorities on how to holistically leverage “mobility hubs” schemes for climate change adaptation, while actively involving citizens and local communities to identify and mitigate their real needs/barriers towards affecting their behavior and shifting to environment-friendly modes.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Considering that mobility hubs will be a trend for the next years in Europe, the key outputs of this project will be crucial for the smooth implementation of mobility hubs and, consequently, for the green transformation of MED areas. Thus, GREENMO’s findings will significantly contribute to the Interreg Euro-MED Programme Mission “Green Living Areas”.

The expected results after the achievement of all the work packages are:

  • Joint strategies and action plans taken up by organisations

The strategy and recommendations for inclusive mobility hubs will lead to an improved management and planning of sustainable mobility services in MED area.

  • Organizations with increased institutional capacity due to theis participation in cooperation activities across borders

Organizations involved will be able to set and achieve low carbon mobility goals through the knowledge, skills, methodologies, and strategy they will have gained. They will be reinforced on leveraging citizens’ real needs on establishing green and inclusive mobility hubs in their living areas.
